Abstract: GUEVARRA, ARIEL y LEZARDA, DON SEVERINO AGRICULTURAL COL-LEGE, APRIL 1982. "A STUDY ON TEE MANAG.2;MENT PRACTICES IN RELATION TO INCOME OF BROILER RAISERS IN CAVITE". This thesis, "A Study on the Management Practices in Relation to Income of Broiler Raisers in Cavite", was conducted in five towns and a city of Cavite to determine the (1) socio economic characteristics of the respondents, (2) management practices employed by them, (3) problems met by the producers, (4) relationship between some selected variables and the adoption of management practices in broiler production, and (5) relationship between management practices and income of broiler raiser. The average age of the respondents was 41.8 years old. Generally 9 all respondents had formal education. Most of the farmers were owner operators with at least three family members being utilized in the farm. The farm area ranged from 150-10,000 sq.m, and the average capital invested by the farmers was P82,332.30. Most of the producers considered broiler as their additional source of income and the gross income per production period ranged from P1200 to P615,000. The average profit per production period of the raisers was P90190860 The most common management practices adopted by broiler raisers were purchase of stocky, housing the flock -9 water management, feeding, lighting and brooding The least employed was marketing practices such as packaging, freezing and transporting because most of the farmers were wholesalers. The problems of the producers on broiler production were diseases and parasites, financing, lack of market information, low cost of outputs, surplus production, improper selection of chicks, and poor quality of meat produced. The study revealed that gross income as well as net income from broiler were affected by management practices adopted by raisers. The capital invested was positively related to the adoption of management practices. The age, educational attainment, number of family members utilized in the farm, years of experience in broiler raising and tenure status did not affect the adoption of management practices of broiler producers in Cavite.
