Abstract: CATADA, MARIE JOSETTI B. and MEJIA, JENNIFER R. Geographic Accessibility Analysis of Public Market in Upland Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringCavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2007. Adviser: Allan Rowel V. Alonalon. The study was conducted on the months of June 2006 to March 2007. The study focused mainly in Upland Cavite particularly in the Municipalities of Alfonso, Amadeo, General Emilio Aguinaldo, Indang, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez, Naic, Silang, Ternate and City of Tagaytay. The general objective of the study is to provide geographic accessibility analysis of public markets in Upland Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to provide analysis of public, markets, determine certain factors affecting the access of people to public markets, recommend future sites for new public market and to produce a map of existing public market for evaluating the accessibility of these facilities. Geographic Information System (GIS) was used to analyze and display spatial data to determine the level of access of market facilities. Transportation, population and the market facilities are the main factors affecting the accessibility. Furthermore, populations of different municipalities were determined and projected up to the year 2030. Transport networks were also considered by taking the distance and road conditions. The study found out that the existing public market facilities of Upland Cavite are accessible, although some barangays have their own satellite market which act as replacement of public markets. To sum up, the authors found that GIS and Isochrone map are effective tools in accessibility analysis.
