Abstract: ENCALLADO, MARY ROSE L., LAURORA, LEONI A. and GENIPHER ROSE D. PILIIN. Exposure to Konsyumer atbp. and Awareness on Standards for Product Quality and Safety of Selected Parents. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication major in Journalism. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2008. Adviser: Ms. Bettina Joyce P. Hagan. The study was conducted to determine the relationship between the exposure level to the program Konsyumer atbp. (KATBP) of selected parents in selected urban and rural areas and their awareness on standards for product quality safety. The study was conducted among 150 parents of Indang, Cavite and 150 parents of Makati City, Manila who have listened/watched the program KATBP from November 2007 to March 2008. The study specifically aimed to determine the exposure level of the respondents to the program KATBP; the respondents' awareness level on standards for product quality and safety; the similarity/difference between the exposure level of respondents in urban and rural areas; the similarity/difference on the awareness level of parents on standards for product quality and safety. Finally, it determined the relationship between exposure level to the program `Konsyumer atbp.' and their awareness level on standards for product quality and safety. The research design used was descriptive survey method. Simple random sampling was employed in selecting the barangays and purposive sampling for the respondents of the study. The statistical measures applied were frequency count and chi-square test. Results showed that most of the urban and rural respondents are moderately exposed to KATBP based on the frequency of listening/watching the program; most urban respondents are highly exposed to KATBP based on the time span while rural respondents are moderately exposed; and in terms of their familiarity with the program, parents from urban area are highly exposed and those from rural area are moderately exposed. Most urban respondents are highly aware on standards for product quality and safety while rural respondents are moderately aware. Result of the chi-square test revealed that the level of exposure of respondents to KATBP and their level of awareness on standards for product quality and safety are significantly related.
