This study was conducted to find out the relationship of Demographic Characteristics, Lifestyles and Living Conditions Associated with Common Illnesses of Male Prisoners ages 35-50 years old in Provincial City Jail, Trece Martires City, Cavite. It aimed to (1) determine the demographic characteristics of the male prisoners in Provincial City Jail, Trece Martires City, Cavite (2) determine the living conditions and life styles of male prisoners in Provincial City Jail, Trece Martires City, Cavite (3) determine the common illnesses experienced by the male prisoners in Provincial City Jail, Trece Martires, Cavite (4) determine the relationship of demographic characteristics, living conditions and life styles to common illnesses among male prisoners in Provincial City Jail, Trece Martires City, Cavite. The Nightingale's core nursing theory which is Environmental Theory was employed as the theoretical framework of this study. The findings presented here are based on the ninety one filled questionnaires of the respondents who were chosen through purposive sampling. The respondents were selected male prisoners ages 35-50 years old in Provincial City Jail, Trece Martires City, Cavite. The frequency counts, percentage, mean and Pearson correlation were used as statistical measure in this study. This study was conducted from November 2007 to April 2008, which mainly focused on the Demographic Characteristics, Living Conditions, Lifestyles and Common Illnesses of Male Prisoners in Provincial City Jail, Trece Martires City, Cavite. The study was able to attain the objectives of the research. Based on the results, the researchers were able to determine the demographic characteristics of male prisoners such as age, weight, civil status, educational attainment, previous occupation and length of imprisonment. The lifestyles determined were interpersonal relationship, nutrition, rest and sleep, personal hygiene and vices. The living conditions determined were overcrowding, ventilation and cleanliness. The researchers concluded that there was significant relationship between demographic characteristic and lifestyle with common illness. There was no significant relationship between living condition and common illnesses. The study revealed that the occurrence of common illnesses was somehow related to demographic characteristics and lifestyle.
