Rodrin The study entitled "Computer Gaming, Internet Surfing and Study Habits of Cavite State University - Science High School Students, A.Y. 2009 - 2010" was conducted at Cavite State University - Science High School from December 2009 to January 2010. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1) determine the socio-economic characteristics of Cavite State University — Science High School students in terms of age, gender, size of the family, weekly allowance and monthly family income; 2) determine the Cavite State University — Science High School students' computer gaming profile in terms of frequency and location; 3) determine the Cavite State University — Science High School students' internet surfing profile in terms of frequency and location; 4) determine the study habits of Cavite State University — Science High School students; 5) determine if there exists a relationship between socio-economic characteristics and computer gaming and internet surfing of Cavite State University — Science High School students; and 6) determine if there exists a relationship between computer gaming and internet surfing and study habits of Cavite State University — Science High School students. Purposive sampling was used in the study. A research questionnaire consisting three parts was used in the study. The first part consisted of a socio-economic data sheet. The items used in the next part of the questionnaire included the computer gaming and internet surfing behavior of the respondents. This consisted of two parts: the frequency and the location of the gaming and surfing profile of the respondents. The study habits of the respondents, was measured using a research instrument adopted from the website "Study Guides and Strategies" (Landsberger, 2003) which is a ten item questionnaire designed to benefit learners in their study habits. The respondents of the study were the purposely selected 150 high school students of Cavite State University — Science High School. The results showed that the mean age of the respondents was 14 years, most of them were females, fourth year students and had a weekly allowance amounting to Php600.00. The mean monthly family income was Php26.000.00 and with a mean family size of six members. Most of the respondents preferred to play computer games at home, friend's house and computer shops. In terms of internet surfing, most of the respondents preferred at the group bracket of home, friend's house and internet shops. Of all the chosen locations, namely: at friend's house, at neighbor's house, and at internet shops, most of the respondents who answered they surfed the net reported they seldom surfed in the said locations, while majority of the respondents who reported they surfed the net at home, had a frequency of 3 to 4 days a week or "sometimes" category. The data showed that gender, year level, weekly allowance and monthly family income have a significant relationship with computer gaming and internet surfing of the respondents. However, there is no significant relationship between computer gaming and internet surfing, and study habits of the respondents.
