An entrepreneurial project was conducted from November 14, 2011, to February 12, 2012. It was located at Capitol Food Plaza, Trece Martires City, Cavite. The project aimed to describe the production activities and marketing of straw bags; to determine the profitability of producing and selling straw bags; and to identify the problems encountered in the production and marketing of straw bags and to recommend possible solutions. A starting capital of PhP30,000 which was equally shared by the entrepreneurs was utilized in the business. The project started as a small-scale enterprise in the production and marketing of straw bags. In the operation of the business, the entrepreneurs encountered problems on the inaccessibility of the location of the business, negative reactions of the consumers on the product innovation, and the distant location of the partners. For three-month period, the enterprise generated a total sale of PhP54,795; cost of goods sold amounting to PhP25,000.97; and gross income of PhP29,794.03. After deducting the total operating expenses, a net income of PhP16,686.13 was obtained from the operation. The economic performance of the business was evaluated through cost and return analysis. The cash receipt of the project on the third month of operation was PhP54,795. On the other hand, the expenses which include the cost of raw materials and other operating expenses, such as: transportation, rent and labor amounted to PhP42,594.
