Abstract: COMON, MA. ISABEL E., DE VERA, SHIELA MAE 0., SALONGA, KRISTINE B. Utilization of SSS and PAG-IBIG Loan among Employees in Selected Manufacturing Companies in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Financial Management. Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. December 2017. Adviser: Ms. Jenny Beb F. Ebo. Salary and multi-purpose are types of monetary loans mostly availed by the members of SSS and PAG-IBIG which can be used depending on their short-term financial needs. The study was conducted to determine the utilization of SSS and PAG-IBIG loan among employees of selected manufacturing companies in Cavite; namely: Mitsuba Philippine Corporation, JAE Philippines, HARADA Automotive Antenna, Inc., Maxim Philippines Assembly Corporation, and Analog Devices. It was conducted from August to December 2017. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the following: the socio-economic profile of the employees from selected manufacturing companies in Cavite; the nature of loan availed by the employees, and employee's perceived financial contribution of loan. This also sought to identify the problems encountered by the employees in obtaining loan; analyze the significant differences between the utilization of loan and the socio-demographic profile of the employees and the relationship between the perceived financial contribution of loan and the socio-demographic profile of the employees. A total of 250 employees were the participants in the study. A descriptive correlational research design was used in the study involving 250 employees as participants was used to determine the relationship between the perceived financial contribution of loan and the socio-demographic profile of the participants. Results revealed that majority of the loan availed from either SSS or PAG-IBIG was primarily utilized for basic needs. This implies that most people acquire loan intended for consumption purposes rather than investing it on profitable things such as business. In addition, the study showed significant difference in terms of utilization of loan and was found to be dependent on the socio- demographic profile of the participants. Hence, utilization practices vary when considering one's socio-demographic profile. Moreover, it was found that there was a significant relationship between the perceived financial contribution of loan and the socio-demographic profile of the participants. It can be gleaned from the findings that having a lower or higher perceived financial contribution of loan greatly depends on one's socio-demographic profile. Other types of loan for both SSS and PAG-IBIG may be explored in future related studies. This may be used to wider the scope of a study similar to this research work.
