Cavite State University, lndang, Cavite.April 2013. Adviser: Mr. Victor F. Piores Running is painful, tedious, and exhausting. So, why do so many people do it? There are numerous reasons why people do recreational running. This research would help us to understand the effects of music to runners to help improve and their performance. The study was conducted to know the personal profile of the runners. Determine the level of the type of music preferred by the runners. Determine the level of volume used by the runners. Determine the level of the effect of music used by the runners. Know the significant differences on the level of the effect of music used by the runners when grouped according to their profile (age and gender).Know the significant relationship between the level of the music preferred by runners and their effect of music. The kruskal-wallis test, man-whitney test and spearman rank were the statistical tool used. A total of 100 recreational runners were chosen through purposive sampling. Self-administered questionnaire was used. Data shows the results that the majority of the respondents preferred music such as love songs and RnB to listen while they run. The level of volume of the music used by the runners was majority in high and loud volume when they listen to music while they run. Majority of the respondents, the level of effects of music used were enjoyment, feel relax, they do not easily get tired, and forget pain while listening to music. The results Results on the level of the effect of music and profile have no significant difference at all. Results indicate that the level of music preferred by the runners was significantly related with the effect of music. It shows that those nuaners with high level of preferred music had also high perception on the effect of music. While, those runners with low level of preferred music had low perception on the effect music.
