This study was conducted to (1) determine the demographic characteristics among the male prisoners in terms of age, civil status, number of year or month in jail detained, educational attainment, and offense; (2) determine the level of emotional maturity of the prisoners in Cavite Provincial Jail; (3) determine the level of social adjustment of the prisoner in Cavite Provincial Jail in terms of jail activity adjustment, coinmate adjustment, and authority adjustment; (4) significant relationship between the demographic profile and level of emotional maturity of the prisoners in Cavite Provincial Jail; and (5) significant relationship between the level of emotional maturity and level of social adjustment of the prisoners in Cavite Provincial Jail.
The researcher used descriptive correlation type of study to determine the relationship of demographic profile, level of emotional maturity and level of social adjustment. The participants were 240 first time male prisoners in Cavite Provincial Jail. The researcher used two sets of survey questionnaires to gather information needed in the study. The Emotional Maturity Scale which is composed of 25 items; and Social Adjustment Scale which is composed of 39 items. Based on the obtained results, it revealed that majority of the participants were in the age of 54-70 married, detained for 1-5 years, attained their secondary level of education and majority of them have murder cases. It also revealed that the participants have a high level of emotional maturity and high level of social adjustment. The relationship of demographic profile and level of emotional maturity in terms of age, number of year detained participants and educational attainment have a significant relationship to the level of emotional maturity of the participants.Civil status and case has no significant relationship to the level of emotional maturity of the participants. It revealed that the relationship of demographic profile and level of social adjustment in terms of age, civil status, number of years detained and educational attainment have no significant relationship to the level of social adjustment of the participants. Case of the respondents has a significant relationship to the level of social adjustment of the respondents. Data also revealed that level of emotional maturity has a significant relationship to the level of social adjustment of the participants.
