Abstract: JECIEL, MA. CLAIRE P., MOJICA, MICHAIAH R., RAMOS, RACHELLE D. Filtration of Water with Banana (Musa Acuminata) Peels Using an Organic Water Filter. Research Study. Science High School, College of Education, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2013. Adviser: Prof. Dulce L. Ramos. This study was conducted at the Department of Science and Technology — Trece Martires City and Cavite State University Science High School — Chemistry Laboratory, Indang, Cavite. It aimed to produce an organic water filter from banana peels. Specifically, it aimed to design a water filter, determine the physical and chemical properties, the presence of e-coli in water, and the bacterial growth in each of the water samples. Treatments were: Treatment 1 (T) — Filtered water using dried Lacatan Banana peels, Treatment 2 (Tz) — Filtered water using dried Latundan Banana peels, Treatment 3 (T3) — Filtered water using dried Saba Banana peels, and Treatment 4 (T,) — Unfiltered water. Based on the result of this study, the constructed water filter improved the quality of water in terms of improving the odor of water, pH Level, and there is no bacteria. present in the filtered water. Upon further evaluation, the safest and acceptable drinking water is found to be Treatment three (T3 — Filtered water using dried Saba Banana peels).
