Abstract: NOCEDA, JOHN QUIARICH V, Production Enterprise of lettuce (Lactuca sativa); An Entrepreneurial Development Project. Entrepreneurial Development Project Report. Bachelor in Agricultural Entrepreneurship major in Crop Production. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Dr. Adelaida E. Sangalang. The study was conducted at Office of the Business Affairs Crop Production area in Cavite State University — Main Campus, Indang, Cavite. The project was implemented from December 2018 to April 2019. The project involved production of Romaine lettuce in a 300 m2 land with a total of 2,340 lettuce plants. Romaine xanadu lettuce seed is one of the most expensive seeds and variety of lettuce. This variety is crispy, dark green, and elongated. Romaine xanadu is like petchay in morphology. The activities conducted during the production period by the student entrepreneur were preparation of lettuce seedlings, land preparation and common cultural and agricultural practices. Purchasing of materials like seed, seedling tray, and preparation of potting media were done during the pre-production activities. The production activities done in lettuce production were land preparation, plot preparation, preparation of potting media, seed sowing, nursery management, watering, transplanting, applying organic fertilizer, weeding, pest and disease management, harvesting, post-harvest handling, and marketing. Sorting was done by separating unwanted leaves. Non-marketable lettuce leaves were used as feeds to ducks. Lettuce were weighed into one kilogram, one-half kilogram, and one-fourth kilogram. After grading, the lettuce was put in a plastic. The lettuce were sold at a retail price in different places in Cavite. Also, lettuce were sold to his neighbors and relatives at Barangay Alulod, Indang, Cavite. The total cost amount of supplies and materials was P 2,519 (Table 1). The cost of tools (depreciated) for the lettuce production enterprise amounted to P 406.38 (Table 2). The minimum wage was P 300 per day and the total cost of labor was P 9,340.40 (Table 3). The other cost amounted to P 1,663.28 (Table 4). The expenses for the whole production in lettuce production enterprise amounted to P 13,929.06 (Table 5). The net income was P 7,799.14 and the return on investment was 55.99 percent.
