The study was conducted to find out the determinants of succession of family-owned fruit and vegetable stalls in selected municipalities of Cavite. It aimed to: describe the socio demographic characteristics of family-owned fruit and vegetable stall owners, describe the characteristics of family-owned fruit and vegetable stalls, determine the factors affecting the succession of family-owned fruit and vegetable stall and the most influential factor, determine if there is significant relationship between socio demographic characteristics of family-owned fruit and vegetable stall owners and succession, and determine if there is significant relationship between characteristics of family-owned fruit and vegetable stalls and succession. The participants of the study were 150 fruit and vegetable stall owners in Indang, Alfonso, Tagaytay, Silang, Dasmarinas General Trias, and lmus. An interview schedule was used to gather data from the participants. Descriptive statistics such as frequency count, percentage, and mean were used to describe the socio-demographic characteristics of the owners, characteristics of the stalls, factors affecting the succession of family-owned fruit and vegetable stalls and the most influential among those factors. Spearman Rank Correlation and Chi-square Test were used to determine the relationship between socio-demographic characteristics of owners and characteristics of stalls (respectively) with succession. Statistics revealed that most of the owners were female, with age range of 49 to 64 years old, majority of them were married and high school graduates with two to three number of dependents. Most of the stalls were small sized, established 11-20 years ago, 75 perccui were in the second sucQ,ession of their business, have one to two workers and got their supply of fruits and vegetables directly from a middleman. It was revealed that willingness to take over was the most influencing factor. The preparation level of the successor was the least influential factor to the succession of fruit and vegetable stalls as perceived by the participants of the study. Sex of the stall owner and size of the fruit and vegetable stall were also determinants of succession for family-owned fruit and vegetable stalls.
