JOVEN, GLENN JERALD Z. and VALENTINO, ALYSSA JOY L. GROWTH AND YIELD RESPONSE OF EGGPLANT IN TRICHODERMA TREATED COMPOST. Research Study, Science High School, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Prof. Carlos N. Radii (Adviser)
This study examined the utilization of trichoderma treated compost in the growth
and yield of eggplant. This study aimed to determine the response of the eggplant in utilizing the trichoderma-treated compost in different parameters; determine the media composition of the soil, determine the effect of trichoderma treated compost to the growth performance of the eggplant in terms of height, length, weight, number of marketable fruits, number of non marketable fruits and computed yield; determine the best treatment of trichoderma-treated compost and determine the cost of production analysis.
The study was conducted at the researcher's residence at General Trias, Cavite. Vacant lot was used in this study, randomized complete block design was used to divide the area.
The results revealed that treatment 3 (45% trichoderma treated compost) has the highest plant in height increment before transplantng with a mean of 7.74 cm, treatment 3 also gave the highest plant height increment after four weeks with a mean of 9.43 cm. It has also the heaviest fruit with a mean of 7.27 g. Results also revealed that treatment 3 gave the longest fruit. It obtained a mean score of 15.03 cm. Treatment 3 also has the highest number of marketable fruits with a mean score of 4.18. The findings could be attributed to the fact that the trichoderma is a good component in compost that will be
used to enhance growth response of any crop or plant.
Based on the findings, it can be concluded that treatment 3 (45% trichoderma treated compost) is the best treatment for eggplant, 45% is the optimum amount responsible for a good and proper growth of the plant. It is suggested to use trichoderma as a media or fertilizer in the application to any plant or crop. Trichoderma greatly affects the growth and yield response of a crop in terms of its; height of the plant, length and weight of the fruit and number of marketable fruits.
