The study entitled Development of a Directory System for the Municipal Tourism Office in the Municipality of Indang was conducted because of the problems that the Municipal Tourism Office are experiencing. The system was developed to provide a well-structured directory system to all its tourists in order for them to get enough and full information about the specific areas they intend to visit. The system provides a sure leverage to its tourist by providing the exact and updated information about every single tourist distinctions in and around Indang. The system greatly benefited the tourists by providing the necessary information and data needed by the tourists. The researchers analyze the problems of the organization using fishbone diagram.
The development and design of the directory system, the following were used: the Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) as the scripting language; Notepad++ as the text editor; MySQL for the database; and Adobe Photoshop CS6 for photo editing. The system was evaluated through unit and integration testing. The study was conducted from March 2015 to February 2016 at Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. The authors used iterative methodology as the guide in developing the system which includes phases such as planning, requirements, analysis and design, coding and development, software testing and evaluation. The system was assessed using the ISO 9126 evaluation form in terms of its functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability. The participants were composed of 15 individuals, 5 of them were the staffs of the Department of Tourism in Municipality of Indang, Cavite, and the other 10 were I.T. experts.
The data were gathered, tabulated, analyzed and statistically treated using mean and standard deviation. The overall assessment resulted to mean of 4.45 with standard deviation of 0.6625, interpreted as the system fully meets and far exceeds the most expectation. Thus, it was proven that the problems and difficulties encountered by the department in terms of the insufficiency of direction about the different tourist spots and also the difficulties of their clients of Indang, Cavite in terms of information gathering were answered by the functions of the directory system. The directory system provides useful functions for managing the information of the resorts and it also provides flexible ideas which the tourist can use to gain specific information and support their needs in terms of finding the best tourist spots.
