The farm practice training was conducted at Barrio Lumipa, General Emilio, Aguinaldo, Cavite for a period of six months from August, 1985 to January, 1986. It aimed to develop the Student Outreach Agent (SOA) to disseminate to farmers the latest agricultural technology on profitable crop production especially the effective fertilizer manage ment system on mongo and tomato. One hectare field was plowed and harrowed twice at an interval of one week to allow weed seeds to germinate and to kill the harmful organisms present in the soil. Furrowing was done in the prepared field intended for tomato with the distance of 75 cm between rows and 50 cm between hills. No furrowing was done in areas intended for mongo. Planting and fertilization of mongo was done on September 10, 1985. The seeds started to germinate four to six days after planting. Harvesting of mongo pods was done 74 days after planting. A total of forty five gantas of dried mongo seeds was obtained and sold at P35.00 per ganta giving a gross income of P1,575.00. On the other hand, transplanting and fertilization of tomato plants were done on September 7, 1985. Trans-planting was done in the field 21 days after germination. Tomato fruits were harvested 49 days from flowering. Forty four kilos of tomato fruits were harvested and sold at P10000 per kilo with a total amount of P440400. Considering the gross income of these two crops, the project realized a net income of P335,00.
