Abstract: CO, STEPHANIE ANNE D., CREDO, ANGELICA D. and DEL MUNDO, MARY LESLIE S. Life Experiences of Late Adult Homosexual Males in Mendez, Cavite. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University Don Severino Delas Alas Campus. February 2016. Thesis Adviser: Mary Joyce B. Eyaya. The study was conducted to determine the challenges experienced by homosexual males and how did they perceived this challenges. It also determined how they overcome their life's challenges and how these challenges could further improve their individuality and perspective in life. This study used a qualitative research design, a systematic subjective approach used to describe life experiences and give them meaning. Specifically, the study used IPA or Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis to give insights into how homosexual males perceived their life challenges. The participants of the study were five homosexual males in their late adulthood, ages ranging from sixty years old and above residing in Mendez, Cavite. The participants should not be legally married, with or without a child/children and discovered their gender identity crisis in their adolescence age or earlier. The study used purposive sampling and snowball procedure also known as the chain-referral sampling in determining the participants. The instrument used in the study was semi-structured interview guide questions and open-ended interview questions which allow the researchers and the participants to engage in a dialogue in real time. It also gave enough space and flexibility for original and unexpected issues to arise, which the researcher may investigate in more detail with further questions to fill the gap of the information needed in the study. The findings of the study showed that the participants had gender confusion during childhood. At first, the panicipants experienced struggle for family's acceptance as the family always had a hard time in accepting their child coming out and social acceptance on how they show their gender identity (act of femininity) to the society. The relationships between the parents were still quite uncomfortable it seemed but as time goes by the homosexual will be accepted still. They also experienced issues such as discrimination and rejection from the society. Most of the participants are independent and self-supporting when they reached adolescent stage. The results of the study revealed that the participants lived a happy and contented life, with nothing to be afraid of because they are good and responsible people in the community. The participants do not see their life as in despair despite their experiences. They are still optimistic and are satisfied with who they are now in spite of all the challenges they experienced.
