The swine production enterprise was conducted at Brgy. Inocencio, Trece Martires City, Cavite from October 04, 2015 to January 16, 2015. The enterprise aimed to apply entrepreneurial skills in hog fattening, generate the best solutions to the problems encountered, and earn profit from a small swine fattening project.
Twelve weanlings were used in the enterprise, with an average weight of 21.75 kilograms. These animals were purchased from a backyard farm in Kaytambog, Indang,
Cavite. Feeds were bought from Best Choice Poultry Supply at Brgy. San Agustin, Trece Martires City, Cavite. The hogs were fed three times a day. For the first 25 days, each hog were fed 1.33 kg of hog starter pellet per day. Hog grower pellet were given to each hog for 34 days with an average kilogram of 2.94 per day.
After 105 days of rearing period, each hog gained an average final body weight of
78.90 kilograms and it gained 57.25 kilograms of total body weight or an average daily gain Of 550 grams. Since each hog had a total feed consumption of 183.33, this means, the feed consumption efficiency of each hog was 3.20. The project involved different
Operational activities starting from the preparation of the housing and equipment,
purchase of weanlings and feeds, feeding, waste management, as well as harvesting and marketing. At the end of the rearing period, the project incurred a total cost PI 08,207.00 with a net income ofP38,404.00. It realized a net income of P3,200.33 per head out of the 12 hogs sold on dressed weight basis. The return on investment (ROI) was 35.49%.
