DELA CRUZ, MA. DESIREE A. VEGETATION ANALYSIS OF SELECTED RIVER WATERSHEDS IN INDANG, CAVITE, Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Biology Major in General Biology, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, May 2017. Adviser: Dickson N. Dimero
Determining the diversity of vegetation in the selected river watersheds in Indang, Cavite is the main goal of this study. The vegetation analysis of different floral species was conducted in five different river watersheds in Indang, Cavite. There were four classifications of floral species that were assessed — trees, shrubs, vines and grasses. Floral species were assessed using the quadrat method.
A general floristic list of species was constructed and species diversity in the area was computed. A total of 29 families and 60 species of plants were identified and photo documented which includes 19 tree species; 18 shrubs; 18 vines; and 5 species of grasses.
The most important plant species in terms of trees were Musa spp., Mangifera indica and Sweetenia macrophylla. For the shrubs, Flemingia strobilifera, Stachytarpheta jamaicensis and Triumfetta bartramia. For the vines, Syngonium podophyllum Centrosema pubescens, and Mikania micrantha. For the grasses, Paspalum conjugatum, Urochloa mutica, and Cynodon dactylon.
The most diverse watershed was Poblacion 2, followed by Bancod, Calumpang Lejos, Tambo Kulit and Banaba Cerca. Tree species was highly diverse in Banaba Cerca, shrubs in Poblacion 2, vines in Bancod, and grasses in Calumpang Lejos.
