Abstract: TAGOPA, JOSEPHINE P. Level of Awareness of solo Parents on R.A. 8972 and its Implications to City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in Dasmarinas City, Cavite, Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Social Work. Cavite. State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Babylyn R. Mercado. This study was conducted to explore the level of awareness of solo parents on R.A 8972 and its implications to City Social Welfare and Development Office. The study aimed to determine. 1) the demographic profile of the participants such as age, gender, number of children, educational attainment and monthly family income, 2) the level of awareness on benefits, awareness on dissemination, and awareness on implementation of R.A. 8972. 3) the implication of awareness of participants to City Social Welfare and Development Office and 4) the programs and services of CSWD in implementation, dissemination, and distribution of benefits. This study used the mixed method both qualitative and quantitative searcher methods with survey questionnaire and interview. The participants of this study were 100 solo parents including social worker handling solo parent clients. The statistical tools used in this study were mean, frequency, percentage, and standard deviation. The study found out that the demographic profile of the solo parents qualified them on the benefits criteria of R.A. 8972. The participants were: slightly aware on the comprehensive package of R.A. 8972; moderately aware on the parental leave; slightly aware on medical benefit; moderately aware on educational benefit, and slightly aware on housing benefit. This implies that the City Social Welfare and Development Office need to create programs and must be motivated to perform the tasks for the implementing the law. As of the time of survey CSWDO has no program and service pertaining exclusively to solo parents. Unfortunately, in terms of overall results the solo parents are slightly aware terms of the benefits, dissemination, and implementation of Republic Act 8972. The study found out that the law is not fully implemented in Dasmarinas City due to lack of support of local Government Unit (LGU) and CSWDO itself. Republic Act No. 8972 is slightly implemented in the City of Dasmarinas, majority of the solo parent did not avail the benefits, the parental leave is the only benefit availed by the employed solo parents.
