Abstract: ERSANDO, RAFFY M. AND ABIOG, PAUL C. REINELL. " Coaching style of Varsity Coaches in Cavite State University, S. Y. 2015-2016". Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Sport and Recreational Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Prof. Ronnel P. Cuachin. The study was conducted to determine the coaching style of varsity coaches in Cavite State University, S. Y. 2015-2016. Specifically, the study described the profile of the participants in terms of age, gender, type of sport and number of years as a varsity coach and its relationship between their coaching styles. The participants were the varsity athletes in Cavite State University S. Y. 20152016. The greatest proportion of varsity coaches was male and was 20 to 33 years old. The greatest population of coaches belonged to team sports and most of them were coaching for one to four years. The researcher used slovin's formula to determine the number of participants. The main instrument used was adapted to Coaching Behavior Questionnaire (CBQ) designed by Martin & Barnes. The study made used of descriptive method of research. These data were subjected to statistical treatment. Most of the varsity coaches used democratic style of coaching with 83.33 percent in which coaches and learners interact and discuss their thoughts and opinions with each other and what they would like to achieve from the session and how they plan on doing it. The study showed that that in terms of gender most of the male and female varsity coaches use democratic style of coaching. Out of 36 participants, there are 28 male varsity coaches, 24 of them use democratic style of coaching, while two of them use autocratic style and the other two male varsity coaches use laissez-faire style of coaching. In female varsity coaches six out of eight use democratic style of coaching while the other 2 use autocratic style of coaching and no female varsity coaches use laissez-faire. Result revealed that the given age bracket of the participants used democratic style of coaching. 30 participants out of 36 used democratic style, while four participants used autocratic, and two participants used laissez-faire style of coaching. When it comes to type of sport of the respondent, result showed that 18 team’s sports coaches and 14 individual sport (non-contact) coaches used democratic type of coaching. While 4 individual/dual (contact) coaches used laissez-faire type of coaching. The study showed that in terms of number of the participants, all coaching years bracket used democratic style of coaching. Results on the relationship between the profile and coaching style of varsity coaches revealed that there is no significant relationship between the two variables in terms of age, gender, number of years being a varsity coaches and types of sports.

The study was conducted to determine the coaching style of varsity coaches in Cavite State University, S. Y. 2015-2016. Specifically, the study described the profile of the participants in terms of age, gender, type of sport and number of years as a varsity coach and its relationship between their coaching styles.
The participants were the varsity athletes in Cavite State University S. Y. 20152016. The greatest proportion of varsity coaches was male and was 20 to 33 years old. The greatest population of coaches belonged to team sports and most of them were coaching for one to four years.

autocratic style and the other two male varsity coaches use laissez-faire style of coaching. In female varsity coaches six out of eight use democratic style of coaching while the other 2 use autocratic style of coaching and no female varsity coaches use laissez-faire.
Result revealed that the given age bracket of the participants used democratic style of coaching. 30 participants out of 36 used democratic style, while four participants used autocratic, and two participants used laissez-faire style of coaching.
When it comes to type of sport of the respondent, result showed that 18 team’s sports coaches and 14 individual sport (non-contact) coaches used democratic type of coaching. While 4 individual/dual (contact) coaches used laissez-faire type of coaching. The study showed that in terms of number of the participants, all coaching years bracket used democratic style of coaching.
Results on the relationship between the profile and coaching style of varsity coaches revealed that there is no significant relationship between the two variables in terms of age, gender, number of years being a varsity coaches and types of sports.
