Abstract: MOJICA, CRISZEL MARIZ V., BENCITO, CATHERINE M. and PESA, DIGIE ANN V. Bullying among Junior Secondary Students in Indang, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2017. Adviser: Dr. Famela Iza Cabe-Matic. This study was conducted from May 2016 to May 2017 in selected secondary public and private schools in Indang, Cavite. The participants were the junior secondary students, specifically, grade seven (7), eight (8), nine (9) and ten (10). The study mainly focused on the negative or strenuous experiences of the students relating to bullying. Furthermore, the relationship between the socio-demographic profile of the students and common bullying behaviour and the relationship between the negative or strenuous experiences of the students and the common bullying behaviour are also highlighted in this study. It used a descriptive and exploratory method of research through a survey questionnaire. Findings revealed that out of 211 junior secondary students, the majority of the students are minors aging 14-15 years old. Most of them are females and a grade ten which have a family monthly income of 5,000 below. The negative or strenuous experiences of the students within the school premises have a higher frequency than the experiences outside school premises. Common bullying behaviour is classified into physical, verbal, social, cyber/texting and attacks on property. Among these common bullying behaviours, physical bullying and attacks on property are slightly experienced. It further revealed that there is significant relationship between the participants' age, sex, year level and family monthly income and the common bullying behaviour. There is also a significant relationship between the negative or strenuous experiences of the participants to common bullying behaviour. Thus, bullying prevention policies and the code of conduct should be strictly enforced throughout the school. Attending a bullying training prevention program, establishing clear rules against bullying which defines both desirable and unacceptable behaviors, and educating students on certain issues related to bullying should be in place. More so, parents and guardians should be actively involved in their child's school and community activities and teach children how to interact socially, resolve conflicts, deal with frustration, and cope with anger and stress.
