The case study was conducted at Pilipinas Golf Bag Manufacturing in Silang, Cavite from February to April 2017. The study generally aimed to determine the product design decisions and production of Pilipinas Golf Bag Manufacturing. Specifically, the
study aimed to describe the business profile of the company; determine the products manufactured by the company; determine the factors affecting the product design decisions of the company, determine the production process of products offered by the company; assess the product design decisions and production of the company using
S.W.O.T. analysis; and determine the problems encountered by the company on product design decisions and production and suggest possible solutions to the problems
encountered.
The data presented in the study were gathered through personal observations and interviews with the personnel involved in the product design and production area of the company. Company files and information retrieved from the internet served as secondary
data.
Pilipinas Golf Bag Manufacturing is one of the growing businesses in the Philippines specializing in producing golf bags and accessories. The company uses a product designing software called CorelDRAW whenever there is a need to produce products requested by the client. The designs were primarily chosen by the client and suggestions were presented by the company for the betterment of the product.
The designs created by the personnel involved in the product designing are handed over to the personnel for production. The production area of the company is assigned to prepare the fabrics needed, embroidered, cut into shapes and assembled according to the design. Once finished, the products are handed over for cleaning and finally' för the packing process.
As the author observed the company's product design and production area, it was tijund out that the company has problems such as unreached deadlines, delayed production, and longer cycle time.
In order to solve the problems stated, recommendations are presented in this paper with the TOWS analysis and action plan to serve as a guide for the company in improving the areas of product design and production.
