Abstract: FERRERA, BRYLLE D., LUBAS, JEDD To, MERLAN, MARK HAMIR and SALAZAR, RAYNEL P. Improvement of Toyota Light Driving Vehicle. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor’s in industrial technology major in Automotive Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019, Adviser: Mr. Danielito R. Escano The study was conducted from August 2018 to March 2019 at Buna Cerca, Indang, Cavite and Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite to improve the Toyota Vios light driving vehicle. Specifically, it aimed to: l. analyzes the current condition of Toyota Vios light driving vehicle; 2. design and construct the Toyota Vios light driving vehicle; and 3. test and evaluate the performance of the Toyota Vios light driving vehicle with advance features. The authors canvassed all the listed materials that are suitable for the improvement of Toyota Vios light driving vehicle. After removing the old malfunctioning parts of the suspension system parts including inner/outer control arm bushing, shock mounting, ball joint and sub-frame, the new good quality and suitable parts were installed in the Toyota Vios light driving vehicle to be able to meet the good quality driving performance. The author provided the new working parts needed in the engine electrical system to remove the "check engine" indicator. The Toyota Vios J variant is converted to power window with remote control. To monitor the current tire pressure of each tire, the tire pressure monitoring system were also installed. The suspension system was one of the major systems that needs improvement. After inspection and replacement of worn-out parts, the vehicle was tested and effectively proven that the rattle noise was totally removed. The electrical disorder wherein thecheck engine indicator was always turned on was discovered using OBD because of the malfunctioning different sensors such as oxygen and speed sensor respectively. After it was replaced with an OEM Toyota genuine spare part, the check engine indicator worked normally. The added feature of the design project was the advanced technology of TPMS which is available and installed in new and modern SUV nowadays. It was effectively observed that the tire pressure of each tire, together with the voltage of the battery and the temperature of the tire was monitored during actual run of the vehicle. Lastly, the advance technology on the power window wherein the alarm switch was turned on, two front windows automatically opened, the window will move upward when the driver controls the switch beside the user. Based on the result of the evaluation which gained a degree level of 4.7 corresponding to outstanding was proven effective. It is also recommended to replace the sway bar and repair the air suspension to make the driving more comfortable and make the light driving vehicle effective for the user.
