Summary: "The semantic meaning of ‘crime against women’ is direct or indirect physical or mental cruelty to women. Various kinds of violence against women are eve-teasing, molestation, bigamy, fraudulent marriage, adultery and enticement of married women abduction and kdinapping, rape, harassment to women at workin place, wife beating, dowry death, female child abuse and abuse of elderly female etc. Crimes against women cover a vast range of issues and include rape, wife beating, eve-teasing, sexual and physical harassment, economic explitation etc. Despite existence of a number of special legislations for providing protection to women, the proportion of crime against women has not deteriorated. Women continue to be victims of various types of crimes. Violence against women takes and enormous social and economic tool worldwide. It is impossible to actually calculate all of the costs, but a rough picture of how we all pay for the damage it causes can add to our understanding of the magnitude of its scope and consequences and of the urgency of its eradication. Direct costs are the actual dollars spent related to violence—for example, the cost of police, courts, judges, social service, healthcare, and mental healthcare. The present book crime against women will provide an indepth study and analyzes of different types of crimes committing against women. It will help the teaching and researching communities of criminology, forensic sciences and social sciences in their academic pursuits. This will also help the policing system to control crime against women."--Back cover.
