Abstract: PEJI, THERESE N., PENA, SHERYWYN G. RODAVIA, JOHN JOSHUA Y., "DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS, PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED AND LEVEL OF ADAPTATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE OF SELECTED FISHERMEN IN COASTAL AREAS IN CAVITE". Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University. May 2017. Thesis Adviser Ms. Mary Sol A. Abad. This study aimed to determine the demographic characteristics of fishermen in terms of a) age, b) years of being fishermen, c) gender, d) educational attainment, e) civil status and, f) family size. It also aimed to determine the problems encountered by the fishermen in terms of economics, socio-psychological, and government. It also aimed to determine the adaptation measures taken by the fishermen in terms of human resources, financial resources, and information resources. Lastly, this study was conducted to determine the significant relationship between the following: demographic characteristic: and problems encountered by the fishermen; demographic characteristics and adaptation measures of the fishermen; and problems encountered, and adaptation measures taken. Descriptive-correlational research design was used in the study, and it also used proportional random sampling technique to obtain the sample percentage from each coastal area and select the number of fishermen as participants in the study. Problems Encountered Scale and Adaptation Measure Scale were used as data gathering tools of the study. A total of three hundred ninety-two (392) participants from the coastal areas in Cavite served as participants in the study. Mean, frequency, percentage, standard deviation- Chi-square and Spearmen Rank were the statistical tools used in the studyResults revealed that a great majority of the fishermen are in their middle age: had a long-time experience in fishing; not highly educated; male; mostly married and had a large household size. Results also revealed that majority of the fishermen were highly problematic in terms of economics, socio-psychological, and somewhat problematic in the government. Whereas majority of the fishermen highly used adaptation measures in terms of human resources and somewhat used adaptation measures in terms of financial resources and information resources. Results also revealed that there is a significant relationship between age and economics, but the rest had no significant relationship. It was also found out that age has significant relationship to human resource. In addition, years of being fishermen and civil status are related to financial resources. Moreover, there was also a significant relationship between civil status of the fishermen, and their information resources. It was also found out that there was a significant relationship among economics, sociopsychological, government and financial resource. Lastly, it was found that there was a significant relationship between government and information resources, whereas there was no relationship between socio-psychological and information resources
