GONZALES, BEVERLY, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, April, 1995 "Technical and Economic Evaluation of Natural Convection Multi-purpose Dryer
Adviser: Engr. Camilo A. Polinga
The study was conducted at the School of Engineering to determine the technical and economic performance of a natural convection multi—purpose dryer. The drying technique used was intermittent drying using peanut, corn, coffee at different drying depth (15 CKI, 20 on). The fuel used was coconut shell.
Based from the results of the study, drying time, drying rate and fuel consumption were greatly affected by the depth of crop being dried.
The machine has an annual use of 2341 hours. The dryer consumed 1.21 kg/ hr. of fuel when drying coffee, 1.13 kg/ hr. of fuel when drying corn and O .93 kg/ hr. of fuel when drying peanut.
The cost of using the machine is P18.52/hr., and P19.44/hr. when drying coffee, corn, and peanut respectively.
