Abstract: ABSALON, ALEXANDREA M. and TOLENTINO, MARY JOY N. Academic Plan of Study Simulator using Topological Sorting Algorithm. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2018. Adviser: Mr. Marlon R. Perena The study was conducted to develop a simulator using topological sorting algorithm to help and assist the irregular computer science students at Cavite State University Main Campus Department of Information for them preregistration. Specifically, it aimed to: (I) identify the problems through interview and survey; (2) analyze the problem using fishbone diagram; (3) develop the system with the use of PHP and JavaScript as programming language, CodeIgniter as PHP framework, Bootstrap framework for the user interface, and MySQL for the database; and (4) evaluate the simulator through integration, acceptance, and unit testing. The system was composed of four modules: (1) student account module, (2)main. menu module, (3) simulation module, and (4) report module. The iterative development cycle was used by the researchers as the development methodology. It is consisted of five phases namely: planning phase, requirement phase, analysis and design phase, testing phase, and evaluation phase. The system had undergone a series of testing and evaluation to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Eighty irregular computer science students and 10 IT experts evaluated the system to verify functionality. The system was evaluated based on the given criteria: functionality, reliability, usability, and user-friendliness for the students and functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, portability, and user-friendliness for the IT experts. According to the overall evaluation results, the system was rated as excellent in all software quality criteria such as functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, portability, and user-friendliness. Upon the completion of the study, the proponents concluded that this would be a solution for the irregular computer science students in planning their subjects until graduation.
