Abstract: DE GUZMAN, DAN ALLEN, ERNIE, KENNETH, GADDI, BRYAN JOHN, Applied Research IV, Cavite State University, Science High School, April 2005, 'Performance of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) Grown in Non-Circulating Hydroponics System" Advisers: Dr. Arnulfo Pascual, Mrs. Cecilia Capalad The study "Performance of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) Grown in Non-Circulating Hydroponics System" was conducted to compare the effectivity of chicken and cow manure tea to inorganic nutrient solution in the growth and yield of head lettuce plants. A total of eighty head lettuce plants were used as test plants. Based on the findings of the study, inorganic nutrient solution (treatment l) gave the longest final root length, total number of leaves and final weight of lettuce. Moreover, the result of the study provides valuable information in the possibility of growing head lettuce under non-circulating hydroponics system. If not properly managed, however, animal manure tea may encourage microbial activity not favorable to root growth and development as a result of oxygen deficiency. It is therefore imperative to consider this problem in future studies.
