Abstract: DUMALAON, LALAINE M. and AGKIS, JOSHUA V. Awareness of society in Dasmarinas City on juvenile delinquency. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2022. Adviser: Marissa C. Lontoc, PhD Juvenile delinquency awareness can help in the prevention of juvenile delinquency from increasing. This study aimed to determine the awareness of the residents and some barangay officials in Dasmarinas City on juvenile delinquency. Also, this study aimed to determine the relationship between the demographic profile of the participants and their awareness level on juvenile delinquency. Descriptive method was used in this study, and 382 residents and 14 barangay officials were the participants of this study. Based on the findings, 55 percent are fully aware on the definitions of juvenile and delinquency. They are fully aware on the forms and acts of juvenile delinquency, aware on the laws governing it, and are also aware about the programs conducted by their local government unit (LGU). On the other hand, the participants level of awareness on the forms or acts of juvenile delinquency showed a significant relationship to their age which implies that older participants are more aware on the types of juvenile delinquency. The participants' level of awareness on definitions of juvenile and delinquency, types of juvenile delinquency, laws governing juveniles and the awareness programs in their area has no significant relationship to their sex. The educational attainment of the participants showed relationship with their level of awareness on the forms and acts of juvenile delinquency and the laws governing them which means that the higher the educational attainment, the higher their level of awareness on the said statements. This study also revealed that there are differences on the level of awareness of the residents and the barangay officials on the forms of juvenile delinquency and their awareness on the awareness programs being conducted in their area. It is suggested to teach juvenile delinquency as a subject. Keywords: Child in Conflict with the Law, Juvenile, Juvenile Delinquent, Awareness Program
