Abstract: PANLAQUI, ROSALINO E. Equitable PCI Bank, MAKATI CITY, MANILA. Field Practice Report. Bachelor of Science in Business Management, major in Economics, Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. April 2003. Adviser: Mrs. Cecilia Cayao. A three-month field study was initially conducted at Equitable PCI Bank, Inc., First Cavite Industrial Estate (FCIE) Branch located at Langkaan, Dasmarinas, Cavite from November Il to 22, 2002. This was then continued at the Bank's head office located in Makati Avenue corner EL V. de la Costa Street. Makati City, Philippines. Generally, the study aimed to expose the student to the various operations and activities in a real dynamic business world that would further enhance the student's knowledge gained from the University. Specifically, it aimed to: provide an opportunity for the student to gain necessary information in the management, products and services, and marketing operations of the bank; get involved in the different activities of the firm and observe its operations; observed and identified some problems encountered by the Finn; and provide recommendations or suggest feasible solutions for the various problems identified. The field study also provided the student a deeper understanding of the working environment and the actual operation and management of a company and a chance to develop skills and professional abilities as well as personal enhancement needed in facing real life work situation. The study focused on the activities and observations made by the student. Relevant data were obtained through research, company files and documents and personal interviews with the bank officers and employees. Equitable PCI Bank, Inc. offers a wide range of sophisticated products and services that include retail banking, remittances, corporate and commercial loans, treasury, trust banking, electronic banking, cash management, leasing and finance, investment banking and credit cards. The bank is engaged in intensive advertising campaign utilizing print, media and radio advertisements in the country's major newspapers, magazines, and networks. Most of the problems encountered by the bank were related to domestic concerns However, with competent financial balancing, vigilance in monitoring speculative investments, and time-tested prudence, the bank has successfully outweighed these negative factors. Another problem encountered was the nationwide "loss of public confidence" after the "Jose Velarde fiasco". To solve this problem, the bank continuously focused its effort on rebuilding strength and stability and repositioning itself in the industry Equitable PCI Bank, Inc. plans to enhance existing products and services and develop innovative offerings to meet their clients' diverse banking requirements. Stringent cost management initiative will likewise be implemented throughout the organization to ensure maximum efficiency.
