The PNP internal cleansing program was implemented promoting the holistic
approach of improving the police personnel, specifically the values and character formation.
This program targets the physical, mental as well as the spiritual aspect of an officer. The study
was conducted to assess the internal cleansing program of the PNP in the municipality of Naic
in Cavite. Specifically, the study sought to: a) identify the internal cleansing program in a
preventive approach as assessed by selected police officer and selected community members
comprised by the church and barangay sector; and b) to distinguish the challenges encountered
in implementing the RICP as assessed also by the selected police officers and community
members. Employing the purposive and sampling technique, a total of four (4) respondents
participated in the conduct of study through the interview method. The data were then collected
by means of unstructured interview, which were then interpreted by drawing themes from each
of the objectives through employment of thematic analysis. The PNP-RICP as assessed by
selected police officers generally showed the influence of the My Brother's Keeper (MBK) squad
system in shaping them morally and spiritually; to add, in the physical aspect, stricter
regulations on uniform system and maintenance of physical fitness were imposed upon them.
The church sector also recognizes the importance of MBK sessions weekly which pose the will
to sustain reformation for the improved delivery of service; while the barangay has identified the
program as generally successful for no occurrence of injustice and violence has witnessed and
officers are more orderly and well-mannered towards the public. Lastly, for the challenges faced
upon the implementation of the program, results showed that there is an actual adjustment
period, but such difficulty was already overcome in the present and the only identified challenge
is the conflicting schedule of the officers with that of the sessions of the MBK. The program is
effective yet very challenging to implement with the occurrence of unforeseen difficulties which
later on has been overcome by the organization and its personnel.
