Abstract: MATULAC. KYLAS TEFANIE A. and MIJARES ANGELENE DENICE l. Peer group as a leading factor on juvenile delinquency. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, January 2022. Adviser. V-jay S. Eusebio, MS Crim Peer pressure occurs when one's peers exert pressure on them to accomplish something, embrace certain values, or otherwise confirm in order to be accepted. One of the main goals of adolescence is for a person's natural tendency to follow the crowd and be a part of a peer group, which offers a sense of belonging and social acceptability. Peer pressure can impact people of any age, but it is most common during adolescence since most teenagers have not yet developed the ability to evaluate what is considered right and which is the cause for them to be delinquents and commit delinquency. This study aimed to determine the contributory factors within the Peer Groups that influence the behavior of children in conflict with the law. The study employed a descriptive research design to examine the responses of the chosen respondents based on survey questionnaires provided. The findings of the study showed a relation between peer groups and juvenile delinquency- This study also found that having a conflict with family can lead to a juvenile engaging in delinquency because a juvenile's mind can be influenced by the circumstances in which their family found themselves. On the other hand, the likelihood of their finding peers and undertaking undesired activities is reduced when they have an intimate relationship with their sibling. They may look up to their siblings as role models, and they may learn norms and beliefs from them. It has also shown that among the factors that can contribute to Juvenile delinquency, Peer Pressure and Peer acceptance are the elements that has the greatest impact affecting the Decision making of the Juveniles and their Behavior because as juveniles grow older, they tend to spend more time with their peers and inhibit behavior regardless of its context, which can lead them becoming delinquent. These findings have a beneficial impact to the family of juvenile delinquents to know the critical causes of the misbehavior of their children. Keywords: Juvenile delinquency, Peer Groups Behavioral changes, Family Relationship, Violations Committed Peer Pressure, Peer Acceptance & Peer Influence.
