Because the Philippines is geographically prone to disasters, individual and collective
awareness of the importance of disaster response is required. As a result, the researchers set
out to learn more about the implementation and challenges of disaster response policies and
guidelines in Barangay Calibuyo, Tanza, Cavite. The descriptive research design and
convenience sampling method were used to select six barangay officials and four residents of
Barangay Calibuyo, Tanza, Cavite.
The study found that barangay officials were well-informed about the barangay's
guidelines and policies, whereas residents were uninterested in learning more. The barangay
officials were providing seminars to reduce the effects of risks, but residents were still
dissatisfied with the barangay officials' actions. Prior to an emergency, barangay officials were
facilitating training while planning various sequential emergency responses. During an
emergency, barangay officials carried out their evacuation plan, and after the emergency,
barangay officials checked on the area, but the barangay residents still noticed a lack of
assistance.
On the other hand, the goals of the barangay officials' guidelines and policies were still
met. Furthermore, the study found that miscommunication and insufficient collaboration of
barangay residents were the most common challenges for barangay officials in terms of policy
and guideline implementation. Finally, the survey found that respondents wanted more
seminars, tighter policy implementation, and more infrastructure and financial policy for the
betterment of their barangay.
