Abstract: CANDIDO, JONNA R. and MALACAS, JERICO C. CODEPLAY: DEVELOPMENT OF LEARNING JAVA GAME MOBILE APPLICATION Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2018. Adviser: Ms. Ezra Marie F. Ramos. This study was conducted from August 2017 to April 2018 at Cavite State University Main- Campus. The purpose of the study was to provide alternative learning material for beginners of Java Programming Language. It will also aim to provide knowledge and enjoyment while playing that will unwind the students from pressure and stress of studying. Prototyping Methodology was used as the methodology of the application. To implement the application, The Android Studio was used. 100 people from Cavite State University was randomly chosen as respondents for the evaluation, 90 students from second year students of BSCS and BSIT and 10 IT specialists evaluated the application. The results were collected through evaluation based on ISO 9126. Code Play was developed to enhance the learning skills of the students about the Java programming language. It offers a board game themed game play similar to snake and ladders with different concepts. Unlike the related commercial software, the application has a method to check if the user's answer is what the application needed. The application needs input from the user, this input will pass through certain modules that will handle the user-interface, generation of topics, and other features of the application. These modules interact with each other every time an interaction between users and the application happens. User input will be processed until it reaches the desired module. The application will show the desired output after the process has been done. According to the overall evaluation results, the system was judged to be excellent in all software quality criteria such as functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, portability, and user-friendliness. Upon the completion of the study, the proponents concluded that the study can be a good alternative learning material for aspiring programmers and for beginners of Java programming language.
