Abstract: ANDES, Catherine Joy D. and RANCAPAN, Ma. Johanne C. Online Computer Aided Instruction on Guidance and Counselling. A Special Problem. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 2005. Adviser: Mr. Simeon E. Daez. The study aimed to develop an Online Computer Aided Instruction on Guidance and Counselling which serves as supplementary tools on teaching guidance and counselling that can be accessed by means of INTERNET. It was intentionally developed to help the students acquire knowledge regarding the subject. The software evaluates the learning capacity of students by giving exams after the entire topic is presented and provides teaching aid for the instructor of the subject. The software was developed using Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP), Apache Server, My SQL Server, Photoshop and Swiss Max. The proponents paradigm used is the Fourth Generation Technique (4GT). When it comes to database query, data manipulation, spreadsheet capability, screen interactions and definitions, report generation and high level graphics capability the 4GT design paradigm provides the software. The developers believed that the 4GT paradigm is one of the easiest ways of creating interactive software. To have an overview of the overall structured design of the program architecture the developers used both Hierarchical Input Process Output (HIPO) and the Input Process Output (IPO) chart. This software, Online Computer Aided Instruction on Guidance and Counselling is an Online Computer Aided Instruction that serves as a supplementary tool on Guidance and Counselling subject. The software presents the lessons to the students by means of accessing the INTERNET. The software meets all the objectives. The software covered eight chapters based on the standard course outline provided by the faculty of College of Education. This begins with the Concepts of Guidance, Principles and Fundamentals of Guidance, Organisation of Guidance, Guidance Personnel, Guidance Services, Evaluation of the Guidance Program, Ethical Principles in Guidance and Counselling and Introduction to Special Education.
