Abstract: FRIAS, MA. PAULA ANGELA B. and JABUTAY, ANGEL ANN L., A System Study in Luntiang Republika Ecofarm. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. July 2022. Prepared under the supervision of Engr. Gerry M. Castillo. This study was conducted to evaluate the operation and implement possible solutions to improve the process production in Luntiang Republika Ecofarm from October 2020 to May 2022. Specifically, it aimed to: (1) evaluate the current state of the process production of Luntiang Republika Ecofarm; (2) identify the problems present in the process production of Luntiang Republika Ecofarm; (3) analyze the possible causes of the problems in the process production of Luntiang Republika Ecofarm; (4) use appropriate industrial engineering (IE) tools and techniques that may help improve the process production of Luntiang Republika Ecofarm; (5) implement the recommendations and possible solutions that may help improve the process production of Luntiang Republika Ecofarm; and (6) verify the effectiveness of the implemented recommendations and solutions. Define-measure-analyze-improve- control (DMAIC) methodology was utilized to attain the abovementioned objectives. In the define phase, the researchers gave an overview such as business background, demographic profile of the respondents, problem, and challenge of Luntiang Republika Ecofarm. Flowchart of every procedure performed in Ecofarm was also showed in this phase. These were: (1) farm accommodation; (2) crops production (harvesting of long coriander); (3) livestock production (feeding and slaughtering of the animals). In measure phase, two types of survey questionnaire were utilized by the researchers to identify which production process in crop and livestock production face problems. Procedures were also evaluated through current state mapping. The current state map of the procedures was illustrated through the data collected in the time study. Process cycle efficiency of every procedure performed in Ecofarm was also computed. Consequently, there were waste identified in performing the procedures and theses were: (1) searching of tools and materials; (2) waiting time; (3) excessive activities; and (4) unnecessary motion. Through fishbone diagram, root causes were identified in analyze phase. This diagram shows the emerging problem occurred in crop and livestock production in Luntiang Republika Ecofarms which is delays. It occurred due to improper placement in the storage facilities, no standard procedures outlined, schedule conflict, insufficient number of workers, goal conflict and weather conditions. Furthermore, strict implementation of 5S was conducted in improve phase. Wastes identified were eliminated and the time of business non-value-adding activities were minimized. Future state map was also illustrated in improve phase to show the various improvements. All of the procedures performed in crop and livestock production generate a hundred percent process cycle efficiency from current average efficiencies of 95.43 percent, and 83.3 percent, respectively. Average process cycle efficiency comparison per production was created in control phase. Before and after implementation was also showed and discussed in this phase. Action plan for the completion of the study was also included. Recommendations that were suggested are the following: (1) evaluate the other procedures performed in crop and livestock production that the researchers were not able to cover due to restrictions brought by the pandemic; and (2) consider the external factor like weather conditions in the collection of data since these happen in the farm.
