Abstract: ANTINERO, AILEEN B., VIDAL, IRENEO B., Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. March 2001. REINFORCED CONCRETE DESIGN OF UNIVERSITY COMMERCIAL BUILDING. Advisers: Engr. Marcelino A. Dagasdas Jr. and Mr. Sancho B. Bayot Jr. The design project was conducted at the author's residence from October 2000- March 2001 and was evaluated on the second week of February 2001 at the College of Engineering, Cavite State University. The general objective of the study is to develop a commercial building design that will accommodate various establishments. Specifically, it aimed to provide the university with a design plan for future reference, detailed cost estimate, and to develop miniature scaled model of the project as representation. The design would serve as a reference for the administration for the future implementation. The built-in capability of Structural Analysis and Design (STAAD III) linear analysis was presented based on the stiffness within the elastic limit of the material. By suing STAAD III linear analysis method, the complexity of mathematical expressions involving matrix operation and dynamic equation was simplified. In determining most economical sections, structural analysis was done involving models of the loads and the structural framework. Parameters like shears, reactions and moments were obtained. Safety, economy, and aesthetic factors were considered in designing the building.
