ABSTRACT
The study "Effect of Varying Storage Condition Types and Durations on the Germination and Growth of Mango Seeds and Seedlings" was conducted to determine the effect of storage condition and duration on the viability of mango seeds and to determine their effects on seedling growth. Three storage conditions and four durations were used in this study.
The findings showed that viability of seeds decreased with storage time. The open storage, however, was the best condition in maintaining the viability of stored mango seeds. The percentage germination and vigor of seeds in cold storage were markedly reduced after two weeks of storage. Seeds stored in open condition showed a slight reduction in percent germination and the rate of decline was not as rapid as the seeds stored in cold and cold-moist storage conditions.
Cold and cold-moist conditions were not suitable for storing longer than one week. On the other hand, unstored seeds gave the highest percentage survival of seedlings at the time the experiment was terminated.
