Abstract: BANASIHAN, EMERSON M. and ESGUERRA, GLENN M. Design and Development of a Microcontroller-Based Wireless Security System Using Surveillance Camera. Undergraduate Design Project Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. October 2003. Adviser: Engr. Michael T. Costa. The design project was aimed to design and develop a microcontroller-based wireless security system using surveillance camera. It was likewise conducted to test and evaluate the efficiency of the operation and performance of the microcontroller based wireless security system using surveillance camera through pilot testing and use of evaluation sheets. The hardware part of the system was divided into three: the design of the MCU circuit, construction of power supply of the four (4) cameras, and video transmitter. The MCU circuit served as the main controller of the security system for the VCR recorder and alarm. The function of the power supply was to generate power to controller and four (4) cameras. The construction of the video transmitter was not met due to circuit design's complexity and unavailability of components locally. Assembly language was used to develop the software embedded in the PIC316 F873 MCU. The system software was capable of instructing the whole system that includes the instructions whenever the sensors attached would be disabled or triggered. The PIC16F873 controller was used to control the operation of the surveillance camera and the VCR in the design project. Evaluation of the design project showed that the system is acceptable, accurate, efficient, reliable, secured, competitive with existing methods and feasible. Based on the result of the cost analysis, the use of the microcontroller-based wireless security system can compete with manual method and wired security system using surveillance camera of securing a zone
