Abstract: CASIDSID, NINA LARRY LEE G. and DELA CRUZ, WIENALYN T. Development of Arduino-Based Egg Incubation System. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering.Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2016. Adviser: Engr. Edwin R. Arboleda. The primary objective of this study was to develop an Arduino-based automated egg incubation system. Specifically, it aimed to design and construct an egg incubator controlled circuit, to design and fabricate the egg incubator, and to integrate the machine to the controller circuit. It also aimed to develop the software to control the system and to send an SMS through GSM module; and to test and evaluate the efficiency of the system through: monitoring and control of relative humidity and temperature, automatic egg rolling, and percentage of hatched eggs. The design project consists of two Gizduino 328 which is the microcontroller unit, DC motor, bulb and cooling fan to regulate temperature, exhaust fan and humidifier to regulate humidity, GSM module to send SMS whenever the temperature and/or humidity lacks or exceeds the needed for hatching of eggs, pushbuttons, relay cards and LCD display. One microcontroller controls and monitors the temperature and humidity and the other one is for turning off the eggs. The project was evaluated through hatching of eggs. Incubation of eggs was done simultaneously to the small-scale hatchery in Palico IV, Imus, Cavite to compare the hatching percentage of the device and the existing incubators. The hatchery's incubator was more efficient by 6.172 percent compared to the Arduino — based egg incubator. Mother evaluation took place at Indang, Cavite. Chicken eggs was incubated using the researcher's incubator. Out of 38 eggs only 34 hatched thus, the hatching percentage is 89 percent. The cost of construction and evaluation of egg incubator was P 17,860.00 and P 3,080.00 respectively for a total of P 20,940.00.
