This study determined the level of awareness of first year college students of Cavite State University in Philippine folk dance.
Through questionnaire, students identified the kinds of folk dance. Were they give some situations to test their knowledge about Philippine folk dances.
Result showed that more than half of the participants were males with a total of 51 out of 96 participants while there were 45 female participants.
In terms of the level of awareness, this study found out that the level of awareness of first year college student of Cavite State University was somewhat aware.
The hypothesis of this study was, there is no significant relationship between the demographic profile of the respondents and the awareness level of first year college student of Cavite State University
Based on the findings of this study we recommend this to the following, For the Students. Continue to preserve the Filipino culture, the importance and to bring awareness and better understanding in Philippine folk dance. For the Physical Educator.
They should use the information that is obtained from this study to establish appropriate programs and actions that will lead to improve the awareness level in Philippine folk dance.
For the School Administration. They should know the awareness level of the students in Philippine folk dance. They may also conduct seminars focusing on Philippine folk dance and other traditional traits like traditional games. For the Department of Education.
The department should establish appropriate program and action that will help the students to be aware of Philippine folk dance. For the Future Researchers. In addition the result of this study had implications for future researchers. It is recommended for the expansion of the locale of the study for further information gathering.
Promotion of folk dance as well as information dissemination about culture is highly recommended.
