The study was conducted from January to March 2017, to determine the employee retention strategies of selected metal works manufacturing companies in export processing zones in Cavite. The study specifically aimed to determine the socio-demographic profile of human resource department personnel and production employees in terms of age, sex, civil status, educational attainment, employment status, position, length of service and monthly salary; determine the business profile of each metal works manufacturing company as to, years in operation and number of production employees; determine the strategies employed and it status of implementation by metal works manufacturing companies to retain production employees; contributions of effective implementation of retention strategies in keeping employees; to find out the most influential factor that contributes to the production employees' reason to remain in the organization; and determine the production employees' extent of intention to leave the organization. The study also aimed to determine if there are significant relationships between production employees' job satisfaction and retention strategies, and employee's intention to leave and company's employee retention strategies. The study also aimed to propose improvements on retention strategies to ensure production employees job satisfaction, retention and lessen intention to leave.
The study used descriptive- correlational design. The 213 participants of the study was consisted of eight human resource department personnel and 205 production employees, currently involved in metal works. The socio-demographic profile and business profile were presented using mean, frequency and percentage. Spearman rank, point biserial, and chi-square were used in finding the correlation among variables.
In addition, employees' intention to leave the organization was found to be moderate intention to leave.
Moreover, it was found out that there is a significant relationship between production employees' job satisfaction and retention strategies, and lastly, the relationship of employee's intention to leave and company's employee retention strategies, was found to be only significant on the working environment, job rotation, and worker's participation in management activities.
