Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Arch. Ricky Mojica. The study was conducted from August 2016 to May 2017 in Cavite to analyze and describe the facades and floor plans of the town halls in Cavite to identity its character and identity as Filipino built heritage. Manual measuring of architectural details found in the facade using steel tape and laser meter, 4. getting the orientation of the fagade using the compass, and 5. self-administered oral interview comprised of the year constructed, reasons for erecting new town halls and modifications made, if any. The study shows that town halls in Cavite have characteristics of order and variety. Order, as town halls’ facade were pattern from Parthenon having symmetrical. Monumental, massive and lofty designs. While variety, as they have different characteristics in the facade and floor plan because of the factors such location and orientation, economic status, population, and year of their construction. Town halls are eclectic in design because of the influences of various architectural styles that emerged from Spanish colonialism, American colonialism, post-colonial period, and new millennium. Some town halls have undergone renovation, expansion, relocation, conversion and replacement due to the population growth, economic status, current trend brought by urbanization and aging of the buildings. The authors recommend that design strategies and principles that promotes sustainability from different town halls should be implemented to the future projects. Feature such as balcony should not be neglected because of its benefits to building. Town halls should be well-designed and well-constructed to withstand the passage of time.
