The project was conducted in Bilaran, Nasugbu, Batangas from September to December 1991. The project aimed primarily to provide the student the expertise in crop production particularly on intercropping okra with bush sitao. Specifically, the project aimed to familiarize the student with proper cultural management and maximize the yield per unit area through the adoption of intercropping okra with bush sitao.
A 1,500 square meter field was utilized for this project. All the cultural practices most appropriate for okra and bush sitao were wel! implemented.
Results of the project showed that there was’ slight increase in profit as indicated by 36 percent return on investment (ROI). The project also helped the student to gain experience on concepts and approaches of intercropping okra with bush sitao.
The project gave a yield of two hundred kilograms (200 kgs) of okra sold at four pesos (P4.00) per kilo and three hundred seventy five kilograms (375 kgs) of bush Sitao which were sold at six pesos (P6.00) per kilo
earning a total sales of two thousand eight hundred ninety two pesos and fifty centavos (P2,892.50).
After subtracting the total expenses from the total sale it netted an income of P942.50.
