The study "Cost of Growing Market Hogs" was conducted at Crisostomo's Swine Project in Indang, Cavite from June to October, 1979, covering a period of 16 weeks. It aimed to determine the cost of producing a kilogram live weight of market hogs. A total of five two-month old piglets were used in this study. The piglets had a total final weight of 394.0 kilograms, total gain in weight of 107.5 kilograms, total feed consumption of 1,250 kilograms and feed efficiency of 3.84.
Findings of this study revealed that the cost of feed, to produce a kilogram live weight of market hogs was y 6.85. With respect to the total cost incurred, the study revealed that one would spend y 9.95 for every kilogram of market hog or finished hog, excluding housing expenditure.
