Abstract: CAUSAREN, ALLAN ZIPAGAN. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, 2003. "DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING OF A LABORATORY VEGETABLE SEEDER". Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2003. Adviser: Eng'r. Jaime Q. Dilidili. A laboratory vegetable seeder was developed at Imus, Cavite. It was evaluated at Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite from September 2002 to October 2002. The laboratory vegetable seeder is a two row vegetable seeder. It is composed of three major parts namely: the seeding device, the trolley and seedbed assembly, and the puller assembly. The trolley and seedbed assembly was mobile while the rest two assembly was stationary. The seeding device is composed of different parts namely: metering mechanism, furrow opener, seed tube, covering device, and press wheel. A 5-hp Robin engine powered the puller assembly while a 1 - hp electric motor powered the seeding device. The machine has a mean capacity of 32, 375, 880 seeds per ha-hr, while manual seeding has a mean capacity of 9, 166, 666. 7 seeds per ha-hr. The future prototype will have a field capacity of 0. 08475 ha/ hr. It will take 12 hours to plant a hectare. It has a relative advantage of 353. 19 percent over manual seeding. The cost of the constructed laboratory vegetable seeder amounted to P 28,
