Abstract: CABANELA, ROACELENE P. and MAULA, DAVE ANGELO L., Design and Development of Digital Thermometer and Digital Sphygmomanometer Patient Assessment System. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Engr. Emeline C. Guevarra. The study was conducted to design and develop the digital thermometer and digital sphygmomanometer patient assessment system. The project aimed to help the nurses in monitoring the basal temperature and blood pressure and give the best assistance to the patients in need. The general objective of the study was to design and develop the digital thermometer and digital sphygmomanometer patient assessment system. The study specifically aimed to design and develop the digital thermometer; modify and integrate the digital sphygmomanometer; develop a software for the system. test and evaluate according to duration for every assessment, accuracy of the digital devices, functionality of the system and device, safety of the device, usability of the system and device and ISO 9126 software evaluation; conduct the cost computation of the system. Digital thermometer and digital sphygmomanometer patient assessment system was designed and developed to measure the blood pressure and basal temperature Of the person and it also provided the nurses the capability to follow the orders of the doctors in a systematic manner while recording the patients' assessments and evaluations. The materials that were used in the study were: microcontroller unit, digital sphygmomanometer, digital thermometer, thermocouple, computer, and software. The methods used in creating the patient assessment system were combined with a PC-based system connected to microcontroller-based through digital thermometer and digital sphygmomanometer. To check the digital thermometer and digital sphygmomanometer patient assessment system accuracy and efficiency, the readings of the designed and developed digital devices were compared to the market available digital devices. Results of the evaluation showed that the digital thermometer and digital sphygmomanometer patient assessment system provide better and accurate readings and effective duration in measuring the blood pressure and basal temperature of a person. Based on registered nurses' evaluation, the project also provided the necessary functionality, safety and usability for the system and device in medical situations. ISO 9126 software evaluation showed that the software was well-integrated and capable of handling the data transmitted by the devices. The study was proven effective on its capability to meet its objectives. The digital thermometer and digital sphygmomanometer patient assessment system had a total cost ofP 10, 448.00.
