Abstract: DELLOSA NIXON G. and DIALOLA, MYLEN F., Proposed Design of a Solid Waste Management Facility in General Trias City, Cavite. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Engr. Roslyn P. Pefia The study entitled “Proposed Design of a Solid Waste Management Facility in Gen. Trias City, Cavite” was conducted from August 2016 to April 2017 at Cavite State University, aimed to develop a design of a solid waste management facility in Gen. Trias City, Cavite. Specifically, it aimed to provide the site development plan Solid Waste Management Facility in Gen. Trias City, Cavite; to provide architectural plans, structural plans, electrical and plumbing layout of the administration building and material recovery facility of the solid waste management facility; to provide the detailed structural analysis of the facility such as truss, purlins, beams, slabs, columns, footings and other related Structures; to provide a detailed cost estimate and specification of the administration building and material recovery facility of the solid waste management facility; and to provide tarpaulin that was showcased the design of the solid waste management facility in General Trias City, Cavite. The researchers used the Computer-Aided Drafting Design (CADD) in preparing the plans and layouts of the administration building and material recovery facility of the solid waste management facility and Google Sketch Up software to show the dimension of the proposed buildings. The Engineering Software STAAD (Structural Aided Analysis and Design) was used in the analysis of structural framework. Technical informations were taken from the National Structural Code of the Philippines 2010 (NSCP 2010) and Handbook of the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines Inc. (ASEP), Architectural design considerations were taken from the National Building Code of the Philippines, and National Plumbing Code of the Philippines. The detailed cost estimates included labor, materials and equipment in this study were based on the formulas and procedures in the Simplified Construction I-stimate Book of Max B. Fajardo Jr. The administration building was determined sate and cost P 13. 518.407.90, including labor, materials and equipment. While, the material recovery facility estimated cost is P 5, 424. 273.30 including labor, materials and equipment. All specification needed were followed in the design process. Detailed analvsis of the design was proven safe and economical after the manual computation of the design. The authors concluded that the design of the proposed solid waste management facility can be effective and sustainable in solid waste management programs of Gen. Trias City, Cavite. A solid waste management facility is feasible in Brgy. Pasong Kawayan I, Gen. Trias City, The design of the proposed SWME can cater the municipal solid waste generation of Gen. Trias, City for the next 10 years. The proposed solid waste management facility can support the provisions of RA 9003 and the implementing rules and regulations. The authors recommended to have detailed studies of the proposed design for future implementation by including design of other structures such as water tank size, road thickness, drainage and water line system and other utilities that are essential in the solid waste management facilities. The authors recommended also more updated and latest preference are recommended since the study for this kind of facility is very much dependent on the present time situation.
