Abstract: RODIS, MARIDEL C. Applied Research IV (Agricultural Science Curriculum), Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, March,1993, "Effects of Planting Date and Planting Density on the Seed Quality of Pigeon Pea." Adviser; Prof. Josefino A. Viado The study entitled "Effects of Planting Date and Planting Density on the Seed Quality of Pigeon Pea" was conducted from May, 1992 to February, 1993 at the Central Experimental Station of the Don Severino Agricultural College with the objective of to find out if planting date and planting density can affect the quality of pigeon pea seeds. The treatments used in conducting the study were the following; T1S1, - early planting with 100 seeds T1S2 - early planting with 200 seeds T1S3 - early planting with 300 seeds T2S1 - right planting with 100 seeds T2S2 - right planting with 200 seeds T2S3, - right planting with 300 seeds T3S1- late planting with 100 seeds T3S2, - late planting with 200 seeds T3tS3- late planting with 300 seeds Highly significant results were obtained in average height of plants and percentage germination while significant results were obtained in average number of pods and average number of seeds, It was proven in this study that right planting is the best in improving the quality of pigeon pea. Likewise, planting 100 seeds in a plot is also good in improving the seed quality of pigeon pea. This is because the lesser the number of plants, the lesser is the possibility of competition of nutrients needed by the plants.

T1S2 - early planting with 200 seeds

T1S3 - early planting with 300 seeds

T2S1 - right planting with 100 seeds

T2S2 - right planting with 200 seeds

T2S3, - right planting with 300 seeds

T3S1- late planting with 100 seeds

T3S2, - late planting with 200 seeds

T3tS3- late planting with 300 seeds

Highly significant results were obtained in average height of plants and percentage germination while significant results were obtained in average number of pods and average number of seeds,

It was proven in this study that right planting is the best in improving the quality of pigeon pea. Likewise, planting 100 seeds in a plot is also good in improving the seed quality of pigeon pea. This is because the lesser the number of plants, the lesser is the possibility of competition of nutrients needed by the plants.
