Adviser: Dr. Marissa Castillo Lontoc People nowadays use social media, and more than half of the world's population uses it. In this modernization age, social media revolutionize the operation of law enforcement agency however it is stated in Nexis (2014) that few police agencies include formal training and policies on how to use social media for better improvement of the organization. Hence, this study primarily aims to determine the importance and the level of proficiency of local police officers in using social media for investigation. Descriptive correlation was employed in the study. Most of the respondents said that they learned to use social media thru self-learning. Even though most of them learn to use social media on their own, they are competent on the use of social media in developing and enhancing their skills in investigation. It is also eminent that officers who likely perceive the importance of social media are more proficient in their work and vice versa.
